Congratulations Chapel Lakes families on making it through the school year! The last couple of months were filled with parades, celebratory yard signs, and drive-thru pickup. It was not always easy, but your efforts are admirable, and your partnership is always appreciated.

Have a wonderful summer break!

Note from Mrs. Walton:

It's official. After twenty-six years of teaching, I am retiring at the end of this very unusual school year. I didn't expect to end my career on Friday, March 13th. I thought we were just taking a week off for Spring Break, and we'd all come back together to enjoy fourth quarter. I had a wonderful, caring class this year, and I was looking forward to the fun activities, field trips, and projects that were planned.  March, April, and May are fun in an elementary school. It is unfortunate, but I am glad that my family, friends, and students are safe. I have many wonderful memories of teaching. I grew up in the Blue Springs School District, graduated from BSHS in 1990, went to William Jewell College, and was hired by Dr. Voy Spears to teach at Chapel Lakes Elementary in 1994. I spent my entire career at CLE in fourth and second grades. My heart will always be in the BSSD.

Note from Mr. Laird:

I have been officially offered the position at Blue Springs High School in the music department. While this is very exciting, I know I will miss my Cheetah family. As someone from out of state that just jumped in, I could not have been luckier to be a part of such an incredible building. I will miss the staff, families and kids so much!

We are proud to announce Mrs. King as our Teacher of the Year!

Jolynn King Literacy Coach

A Note from Principal White

Mrs. King goes above and beyond in her position as a literacy coach at Chapel Lakes Elementary School. She provides an excellent, literacy rich environment for her students and their families but also the staff at CLE. Mrs. King finds that delicate balance of pushing a child while empowering them at the same time. She has that “it” factor!

Mrs. King is dedicated to her profession and is passionate about her role as an educator. She is eager to assist her fellow colleagues when it comes to core curriculum and is constantly adapting her lessons, so they align with and extend upon what teachers are currently expected to cover. She understands what it takes to be an excellent educator as she comes from two remarkable educators. Jolynn learned from her parents what it means to truly love one’s job. Her passion to do what is right, even when it’s hard is a testament to her upbringing and her passion for her students.

A Little About Mrs. King

She has been teaching eleven years.  She spent her  first year teaching third grade at Sunny Pointe Elementary in the Blue Springs School District then  spent the next six years at Chapel Lakes Elementary teaching third and fourth grade.  This is her fourth year as the Literacy Coach at CLE.

"I love a lot of things about CLE, but what I love most is our wonderful community!  We have families that are incredibly supportive.  Our teachers are the kindest, hardest workers I know.  The students at CLE are the most amazing kids around!  Our Cheetah Family is so special, and I very lucky to be a part of it!" - Mrs. King

Congratulations to Mrs. King!
